Exploring Migration across the Mediterranean: Digital Methods and Conceptual Networks Workshop

Workshop ​​Conceptual and Social Networks for Movements of People across the Mediterranean Basin, organized by PIMo Cost Action  aims to bring together experts in the fields of digital humanities, migration studies, and computational methods to explore new and innovative approaches for understanding the movements of people across the Mediterranean basin, from the early modern period to the present day. The focus will be on the application of digital methods and computational tools for information extraction, natural language processing, conceptual mapping, network analysis and data visualization to study migration phenomena.

The format of the workshop will include keynote addresses, short presentations and panel discussions. Participants will have the opportunity to present their work and engage in discussions with other experts in the field. This workshop provides a platform for the exchange of ideas and the presentation of new research in the field of digital humanities, comptuational history  and migration studies, with a focus on the application of NLP tools and network science methods. 

The workshop is aimed at scholars and researchers who are interested in the application of digital humanities to  migration studies and history in general, as well as those who are interested in the use of computational tools and methods to analyze and represent historical ​phenomena. The workshop is open to participants from academia, industry, and the public sector.
