UPSKILLS (UPgrading the SKIlls of Linguistics and Language Students) is a strategic partnership for higher education between institutions (primarily universities) from Austria, Croatia, Italy, Malta (the coordinator), the Netherlands, Serbia and Switzerland funded by European Union’s Erasmus+ and Swiss Movetia that seeks to identify and tackle the gaps in skills of linguistics and language students in order
to enhance their employability and make them better prepared for careers in research and industry. To achieve this goal, the project partners have developed open-access teaching and learning materials to be embedded in existing and future university curricula, best practices for research-based teaching and educational games. The event will feature an overview of these outputs and a plenary talk by Maja Miličević Petrović from the University of Bologna. The event will take place on 28 September 2023..
Participants: Caterina Bonan, Benedikt Perak and Dorjana Širola.
Moderator: Tihana Kraš.
This event will involve researchers and experts who have successfully transitioned from linguistics to data science or other related fields. They will share their personal experiences, insights, challenges and opportunities encountered during their career transitions. Additionally, they will share tips, best practices and practical advice for others considering a similar career shift.
The event will take place on 28 September 2023.and is organized by the members of the UPSKILLS project in Croatia Tihana Kraš (voditeljica tima), , Sandra Marman and Martina Podboj.

This event will discuss how large language models are revolutionizing language processing, translation, and text analysis, enabling us to uncover new linguistic patterns and phenomena. The participants will describe the potential of these models to enhance our comprehension of human languages and their applications in various linguistic research domains.
The event will take place on 29 September 2023in collaboration with Regional Language Data Initiative (Reldi), Institute for Croatian Language and Linguistics (IHJJ) and European Lexicographic Infrastructure (ELEXIS).
Data reuse is only possible if the data is managed properly throughout the whole life-cycle of the research project, from the conceptualization of ideas to publishing data and results. This workshop will use adapted content from the CESSDA Data Management Expert Guide (DMEG) , providing researchers with the opportunity to gain a deeper understanding of selected topics in data management relevant to the management of linguistic data.
Workshop facilitators: Marijana Glavica and Vedran Halamić
