This 2-day workshop brings together scholars and students to discuss post-authoritarian and post-conflict accountability issues against the backdrop of innovative digital methods to study questions of individual and collective dealing with the past. The first part of the workshop centers on open tools and resources for NLP analysis of Croatian language developed by the ReLDI initiative, methods of digital analysis of history with open-source tools such as HISTOGRAPH. The goal is to discuss the role of digital and digitized content analysis for the FramNat project in particular, and transitional justice studies in general. Participants include Croatian computational linguist, Nikola Ljubešić, affiliated with the Jožef Stefan Institute, Ljubljana, Slobodan Beliga from University of Rijeka, and digital humanities scholar, Daniele Guido, from the University of Luxembourg. The second part of the workshop is dedicated to geospatial mapping of cultural memory, heritage as well as human rights abuses. Research on these issues are carried out on web platforms such as Rijeka GeoMap and OSCE’s “Bosnia War Crimes Map.” This part of the workshop discusses and reviews methods to link different events, locations and actors to create network maps that capture these trends.
